Attorney & Managing DirectorMeet Gerald Abila, an Attorney and the founder of BarefootLaw. For his work with BarefootLaw, Gerald has won a number of Awards including the Uganda Young Achievers Award in 2013, American Bar Association, Legal Rebel Fellow in 2014, Echoing Green Fellow in 2016. The Lawdragon based in New York recognized Gerald as one of the top Legal Consultants and Strategists for 2016. Gerald is a strong advocate for the use of technology by the legal profession. Gerald enjoys writing poetry, playing golf, photography and music and tutoring law at his alma mater.Legal OfficerMeet Rhoda Namboze, a Legal Officer passionate about all things law and believes in the need to incorporate the use of technology into the law. With a background in both law and public relations, Rhoda has set her sight on empowering women and uses her time and resources in pushing these agendas. When she isn’t fighting the good fight for women and girls, Rhoda is travelling, enjoying good meals, hiking and camping.Executive AdministratorMeet Dorcus Mwebaza, the dynamic, self-driven and enthusiastic young lady. Dorcus is in charge of all the internal operations of BarefootLaw. She handles all the nerve wracking “behind the scenes” work at BarefootLaw, and ensures all activities are running smoothly including human resource management and coordinating walk-in clients. Dorcus is the ‘oil’ that keeps the ‘BarefootLaw engine’ running. When she steps away from it all, you will find Dorcus involved in health issues, beauty and events management.Head of Strategy & OperationsMeet Michael Kwizera, founding member of BarefootLaw and Head of Strategy and Operations. Michael has extensive experience in Marketing and great enthusiasm for all things tech. He’s in charge of mapping out what BarefootLaw will look like today and in the future. When he isn’t thinking strategy, you will find him at the gym or with his dog, Hunter.Advocate & Head of ResearchMeet Timothy Kakuru, advocate and founding member and Head of Research at BarefootLaw. While doing legal research work, Timothy noticed the rift between the law and what his clients knew. He set out to promote legal education. Besides his love for the law, Timothy’s interests include art, literature, music, sports (apparently) and feeding two-day old chicken.Volunteer LawyerMeet Phoebe Murungi, a lawyer and Head of the International Justice Department at BarefootLaw. Phoebe’s passion is International law. She has accumulated vast experience from her work with Justice, Law and Order sector, and Avocats Sans Frontieres. Phoebe has also written countless publications on different aspects of international law. Currently, she is an associate at Kampala Associated Advocates (KAA) and splits her time between KAA and BarefootLaw. It is only fair for her to enjoy long quiet walks when she isn't juggling multiple hats.Head of Digital StrategyMeet Allan Zaramba, a founding member of BarefootLaw and Head of Digital Strategy. Allan has garnered years of experience in digital media with specific reference to areas of monetization, automated marketing, analysis, design and management of IT and digital media tools and products. His skills have equipped BarefootLaw with a wide range of innovative ways to deliver legal services. When Allan isn’t typing away on his computer, he is on some adventure and spending time with his family.Advocate, Head Legal Services & OutreachMeet Isaac Jonathan Otim, an advocate, founding member and Head of Legal Services and Outreach at BarefootLaw. Isaac leads the team on the Women’s Property Rights Initiative. He is an Advocate of the High Court, a businessman with a strong conviction to give back to the community and direct his legal career by contributing to providing access to justice. Isaac is passionate about chess and enjoys sharing a relaxed moment with friends and family.
