The BarefootLaw Box is a recycled shipping container, powered by solar and redesigned to be fitted with an internet connection, screens, to allow community members to connect with lawyers for legal guidance and mediation. The idea behind their design is to make them beautiful and attractive to all that fear legal institutions such as police stations and courts.
The BarefootLaw Box is a recycled shipping container, powered by solar and redesigned to be fitted with an internet connection, screens, to allow community members to connect with lawyers for legal guidance and mediation. Since its deployment, The BarefootLaw Boxes have conducted 32 legal trainings, with Local and cultural leaders, Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), 82 mediations, and 220 cases handled. The cases handled include Domestic Violence issues, land ownership rights, criminal matters, etc. BarefootLaw currently runs three BarefootLaw Boxes in; Nsinze Sub County - Namutumba District, Bala Sub County- Kole District and Paicho Sub-County in Gulu District.
